“Holding onto anger is like grasping a hot coal with the intent of throwing it at someone else; you are the one who gets burned.” – Buddha

Such simplicity from the Buddha. My take on his thought is that the one throwing the coal, assuming he or she is bare handed and that the coal makes contact with its intended target, would not be the only one who would get burned.

Too often, our anger causes hurt towards those we hold closest to our hearts and that of ourselves. One’s focus must therefore begin inwardly before any social calmness can be achieved.

Be Well.
